Västerlånggatan

Gamla stan's busiest street, a narrow, curving lane of ochre and red merchant houses that follows the line of the Old Town's medieval city wall.

Come early in the morning or in the evening to see the facades without the midday crowds. Near the southern end, look for Mårten Trotzigs gränd, Stockholm's narrowest alley, and duck into the side lanes that climb toward Stortorget, two minutes' walk uphill.
